“I cannot jump into conclusion that, that area has now became a terror zone or worrying zone as you just said, we cannot because of one incidence now claimed that the area is now a worrying zone or terror zone.”
“We have been on that road, but as you know that crime is dynamic, so we have to step up our game, like I have said, we have gotten more technical support which will make it easier for us to apprehend these criminals that are disturbing that road.”
“We need the cooperation of the members of the public to always give us more information about happenings in that axis, we have gotten all the technical platforms that will help us to apprehend criminals’ elements in that area, and in all areas that we know, we are going to deal with heinous crime’ Adeleye explained.
Penpushing further reports that, Oyebade added that just of recent two important personalities were abducted on that route, an Ibadan based lawyer Musibau Adetunmbi and one Prof. Adeyinka Adegbehingbe, but both have been released on payment of ransom from their abductors.
The police boss however called on all the parents to always take good care of their children, noting that Nigeria parents have failed in their responsibilities for nurturing good children, which will also turn out to be a menace to the society.
Penpushing also reports that, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu in his opening remark said that the State is one of the most peaceful state in Nigeria, noting that the police partnership with all the pubic and inter agencies has yielded a positive result in ensuring security of lives and properties in the State.
“These positive results are, arrest of armed robbery gang, rescue of kidnap victims, security of lives and properties of the citizenry to mention few.”
Penpushing reports that, the Commissioner pointed out that inadequate manpower and logistics are the problems currently facing the Command, adding that people should also support the police because security of lives and properties is a collective effort which should not be left alone with the police.
The Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi in his own remark said that the State was a State of lawlessness before his administration, adding that he knew the importance of security of lives and properties, that is why the state is now enjoying a peaceful coexistence among the people
The Governor represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Segun Abolarinwa pointed out that Oyo State who was ranked 34th among the State of the nation in 2009/2010 had moved to the fifth position of the most safest State in the nation, urging that the incoming administration in the State should sustained the security legacy laid by Abiola Ajimobi government.
“A good security foundation has been laid down which i believe the new incoming government will continue with it’, and however promised that the government will continue to support the police and give necessary assistance to ensure peace and security in the state.
Penpushing reports that, the stakeholders meeting had in attendance, the Iyaloja of Oyo State, Chief Mrs Labake Lawal, the Vice Chancellor of Lead City University, Professor Kabir Adeyemo, representatives of the National Road Transport Workers Association, leadership of Myyetti Alla in the State, the leadership of the farmers in the State, Oyo State Christians Association Chairman, Pastor Benjamin Akanmu, the representatives of the Road Transport Employee Association, the representatives of market men and women in the States among others.
