Kesington Adebutu multi-million-naira media resource centre for Nigerian Institute of Journalism set for commissioning
The management of Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) located in Ogba, Ikeja axis of Lagos State has concluded arrangements for commissioning of a media resource centre scheduled to hold Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Penpushing reports that this was made known by the Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute, Chief Olusegun Osoba, a renowned veteran journalist and former Governor of Ogun State, who facilitated the project, to be named after the business mogul, Sir Kensington Adebutu.
The council in a statement made available by the Provost of the Institute, Gbenga Adefaye said commissioning of the centre known as Sir (Dr.) Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu Media Resource Centre will start from 1.pm.
Penpushing further reports that Adefaye, also a renowned and cerebral media practitioner emphasized that guests are expected to be seated by 12.30pm at the campus of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) 8-14, ljaiye Road, Ogba, Lagos.
The Institute has been in existence since 1963 and became fully operational in 1971, with over 50 years of existence and in the business of training and re-training Journalist, and remains the best stop for anyone who has interest and wants to venture into mass communication.
Penpushing also reports that the Institute is the foremost school of journalism in Nigeria which specializes in the training of Journalist and professionals in the field of Journalism, and offers programs in National Diploma, Higher Diploma and specialized programs as well as short term certificate courses.
The Institution has state of the art equipment in teaching practical for 21st Century journalism, while its selling edge is the Institutions ability to take on hands practical for all its courses with seasoned and renowned lecturers both in academics and those in the field practicing.
Penpushing reports that the Institute has well equipped laboratory for practicing journalism, it’s has a fully equipped Information Communication Technology (ICT) hub with 24 hour’s internet access, a functional radio and television studio, editing laboratory and photo studio.
The profile has it that the students are well grounded in any field of their specialization in Mass communication, be it Print option, Broadcast option, Online Journalism or Public Relations and Advertising, while its graduates are exempted from some professional exams in APCON because of its affiliation with the Institution.
