Lockdown: Iyalode Alaba Lawson provides facemasks for journalists,residents in Ogun state

The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson is to provide free facemasks for journalists on essential duty in Ogun State,as well as number of residents, as the lockdown order by the Federal Government against the ravaging coronavirus lasted.

Penpushing reports that, Lawson who remained   the only relevant patron of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ),Ogun State Council for over thirty years has ordered for the mass production of the facemasks.

The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, it is recalled  said effective from May 1, residents of the state must compulsorily put on facemasks, stressing that anybody caught without facemask would be arrested and subsequently taken to isolation centre for two weeks.

“From May 1, it is compulsory for residents to be wearing facemask. Anybody who failed to wear facemask, will be arrested and taking to isolation centre for fourteen days”, Abiodun declared.

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun said any residents who failed to use facemask would be considered as having tested positive to coronavirus, and want to  delibrately transmit the virus to other residents,adding that such will be treated as criminal offence.

The Iyalode in a play save method, however resolved to equip journalists and number of residents in the state, with the provision of 2,000 facemasks, and 100 will be ditributed to journalists.

Penpushing also reports that, the free distributions which cut across all sections will be handed over on Monday 10.am at Iwe-Iroyin, Press Cntre,Abeokuta, while Lawson also used the opportunity in calling on Nigerians to strictly obey the guidelines in preventing the spread of the virus
