Cabal takes over Ogun state revenue generation, Peoples Democratic Party raises alarm

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State Chapter has raised alarm that cabal has hijacked revenue collection in Ogun State, and advised Governor Dapo Abiodun to beam his administration searchlight on the revenue activities in the state.

Penpushing reports that, Publicity Secretary of the opposition party Sunkanmi Oyejide raised the observation while speaking with journalists, and cited examples of revenue agents in the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle, Owners, Repairers and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Park Management Services, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organisations (ROMO) being sidelined by the cabals for selfish interest

The spokesman of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), emphasized that investigation showed that, activities of the alleged cabal thereby sabotaging government’s effort in up-Scaling Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“Governor Abiodun said his administration will fund the 2021 budget with Internally Generated Revenue.  In order to scale up Ogun IGR. The so called cabals are smiling to the banks on weekly basis’, he said.

‘Fractional part of the money realized by RTEAN, Park Management Services, ACOMORAN and others are paid to the government covers while larger percentage of the money  in the hands of the cabal’, Oyejide said.

“Ogun State can make a lot of money from this Transport Unions if they are allowed to operate freely.  If the government continue losing millions  of Naira to these politicians weekly it might be difficult for the government to fund the 2021 budget,” he said.

Penpushing further reports that, Oyejide advised the Governor to deploy all constitutional means to punish any politician found wanting of sabotaging the renewed vigour of his administration to boost its revenue base.

The opposition image maker said he recalled that, the Governor during a consultative meeting with the representative of Ogun East Senatorial District in his office last week  said with the steep declines in revenues from the Federation Account, his administration shall rely more on  internally generated revenue from Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, (OGIRS) and other revenue sources.
