Institute of Directors fete members to end of year celebration

The Institute of Directors (IOD), Ogun State Chapter on Thursday treated its members to a lavish get together end of the year, sponsored by Iyalode of Yorubaland ,where they all wined and dined to appreciate themselves and God for keeping them alive inspite of all challenges.

Penpushing reports that, members led by its South-West Chairperson converged at corporate headquarters of the institute located at BM House along Moshood Abiola Way, Abeokuta, to give themselves nice and memorable outing towards the end of 2021 and usher in the new year

The Iyalode of Yorubaland, who is the chairperson of the institute, Iyalode Alaba Lawson in her welcome and brief speech thanked God on behalf of members for a fulfilling year, adding that the membership drive of the institute should be geared up in 2022.

Penpushing further reports that, Lawson, in similar vein, called on members to see themselves as mentors to youths, adding that the call for young Directors and leaders is now, hence, need for members to be proactive in encouraging others to join.

The chairperson explained that the institute  is committed to build the capacity of Directors to be competent and committed professionals through well developed programmes, mentoring schemes, sound ethical practices and enrich public policy through advocacy.

The South-West boss of the institute  added that the body  has a vision to be a leading world class professional institute that is promoting best corporate governance practices, Director Development and Advocacy.

Penpushing also reports, Dr Gbenga Adeoye, a notable member, who was unanimously appointed Chairman committee on Secretariat, lauded Lawson on how she has piloted the affairs of the institute, calling on other members to support her efforts.

The frontline member  therefore used the opportunity in calling on the citizens to be involved in governance, saying that people should be stakeholders in the determination of who governs the country.

Penpushing reports that, President of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce,Sir Jaye Oyetola called for synergy between the public and private corporations in the fight against corruption and the development of the country, saying that one cannot be faulted for the other in the development strata.

The ceremony also attracted invitation of number of prospective members, who willingly picked membership forms, as a kick off towards their admission into the body, as members, just as various contributors at the ceremony praised Lawson for her leadership quality

Penpushing further reports that, other members present at the event includes, Dr Femi Majekodunmi(Chairman, State Universal  Primary Education Board),Balogun Akorede, who is  Director Government Account, Office of the State Auditor General, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, President  Ogun State Chambers of Commerce(OGUNCIMMA), Bada Olatunji,

The others are: Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, (Founder, Penpushing Media, Mrs. Toyin Sogbesan General Manager,Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation), Akinola Lawson, (Director Lawson Group of Schools), Anifat Ore Sulaiman,(Lawyer and Contact Center Manager, Chathub Nigeria Limited) and Damola Ade-Onajobi(Administrative Secretary of the Institute).
