I organized attack on couple killed in abeokuta on new year day, says family driver
The architect of the murder of a couple in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, on new year day, Lekan Adekanbi has confessed that he organized the gang to attack the family, which was aimed to extort money from them, adding that he participated in the violent attack which led to death of the duo
Penpushing further reports Adekanbi who was the private driver of the couple made the confession during an interview on Friday with journalists when he was paraded alongside other two gang members of the killer squad by the Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The principal suspect who disclosed that he was employed as the family driver seven years ago, disclosed that the thought to attack his employers came when he needed money to become independent and do away with being an employee
Penpushing further reports that he disclosed he contacted Waheed Adeniyi popularly known as ‘Koffi’, who he said is known hardened guy in the town, and subsequently accepted the deal, and also provided gun for the operations , as well as engaging the third member of the gang, Ahmed Odetola known as ‘Akamo’, on the street.
The ring leader of the gang disclosed that he led the killer squad to the residence of the couple before their arrival from the cross over church service, having opened the gate and gained access to the compound and sitting room of the building.
Penpushing also reports that Adekanbi said he was busy monitoring the movement of the couple while the gang had already lurked within apartment, adding that when the unsuspecting couple arrived their home, they were immediately seized by the gang at gun point.
The suspect confessed that, the couple were ordered to lie down which they complied with, and thereafter asked to bring out money, but the husband pleaded that he has no cash with him, and was however, ordered to make electronic transfer from his bank account
Penpushing reports that in compliance with the gang order the husband transferred the sum of N200, 000, adding that the money was considered too small in view of the fact that the husband worked with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The initiator of the attack said at this point, the gang separated the couple, and was assigned to monitor the woman, adding that he encouraged the woman on need to encourage his husband to part with more money.
Penpushing further reports that Adekanbi said the husband thereafter transfer additional N1milion to the account provided by the gang, totaling N1.2million, adding that the couple were thereafter slaughtered, and the home set ablaze as a decoy
The prime suspect in his confession added that the killing of the couple was muted by ‘Koffi’, who slaughtered the couple, with the fear that if they are alive, the account the money was transferred to, may lead to their arrest, adding that the petrol in the generating set in the house was used to set the building ablaze
Penpushing also reports that, the driver confessed that he took away the family dogs within the compound vicinity to pave way for easy access of the gang into the family building which is located within Government Reservation Area(GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta
The principal suspect disclosed that having completed the operation, the gang was about to leave the home, when the biological and adopted sons of the couple(Oreoluwa Fatinloye and Felix Olorunyomi) innocently walked him, adding that the gang immediately seized them.
Penpushing reports that he said the two boys were immediately tied and put inside the booth of the car they brought, before being driven to the river located along Adigbe-Oba axis of the town, where they were thrown into
The couple Kehinde Fatinoye a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the wife, Bukola a staff of the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNNAB), Abeokuta, it will be recalled were burnt beyond recognition after gruesomely murdered by the assailants, who also abducted their son who was thrown into a river along Adigbe-Obada axis of the town.
Penpushing further reports that the couple were however, buried the following day of the incident after a funeral church service, held at Okejigbo area of Abeokuta, while the recovered body of their son from the river were also committed to mother earth the third day of the sad incident.
