I buried my political godmother to fulfil her wish, says Ibikunle Amosun

The former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Friday disclosed that his political god mother Chief (Mrs) Taiwo Kosenatu Durojaiye popularly called Iya Londo directive was for him (Amosun) to bury her when she passes to great beyond.

Penpushing reports that Amosun made the disclosure at the burial ceremony of the late the political grassroots mobilizer and leader of many women organizations held at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Keesi, Itoko, Abeokuta.

The Egba born former Governor pointed out that he feels fulfilled granting the deceased her last wish describing her as political grassroots mobilizer and leader of many women organizations as a nontrans actional politician and a mother to all.

Penpushing further reports that Amosun explained that his presence aat the funeral ceremony was to repay the deceased her steadfastness., recalling that he knew her in 2001 when he joined politics to participate

“I knew Mama in 2001 when I joined politics and we were moving from one local government to another. She stood by me from the beginning to the end. Well, she’s is like a mother to all of us, a political mother because when we joined politics, she was one of the trust that I met in 2001. One good thing about her, she is a transactional politician she has stayed in the cause with us since 2001 till date that is why we are here.

‘Some years ago, she told me that, when I die bury me, my corpse is for you to handle and I told her that it was not yet time. She kept repeating the same thing. Like three months ago she told me the time was getting closer bury me when I die. And today here I am repaying her steadfastness’, Amosun added.

Penpushing also reports that Vicar Ven. Oluyinka Oke, in his sermon, urged humans to give back to the society and live their lives accountable to God reminding everybody that death is certain and all will die at a certain time.

“We will reap what we sow, people of all ages will die. Ask yourself when is my time to die? We came and also will go, but we must always think what legacy will i leave behind? What will people say about me after death? It is time to return to God, death can come anytime through accident, disease, suicide’, he said.

“Things are hard but only God can help. What is our help to the society? There is hunger, people are suffering, youth are wayward because they think that is the only way out. We will give account. We can serve God through our influence on people. There is a reason why God blessed you more than other in the family and society” he added.

Penpushing reports that other personalities present at the burial service were Dr (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun, (wife of former Governor) Chief Derin Adebiyi; Barrister Biyi Otegbeye; Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo, Mr Ademola Adegoroye(former Minister of State for Transport), Architect Segun Abiodun and Hon Gbenga Ademosun among others

Meanwhile, the deceased also known as ‘Mama Gomina’ was born 97 years ago at Lapoyo Village, and grew up in Ibu-Alufa, Ajura Village near Siun in Obafemi- Owode local government area of Ogun State, and she died on the 14th of October 2023.
