The former Vice-President further explained that his paternal grandfather, Garba Atiku Abdulkadir, was born and raised in Wurno, now part of Sokoto State, stating that his paternal grandfather was “an itinerant trader” who left Wumo for Jada on a trading expedition with his friend, Ardo Usman.
Penpushing further reports that, Abubakar said that he was born in Jada and that his father was born and named Garba, adding that, his mother, Aisha Kande, was also a Nigerian and a daughter of a traditional ruler from Dutse, now capital of Jigawa State.
The former customs boss turned politician said his parents were all Fulani, which is one of Nigeria’s largest indigenous tribes.
