HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES STOPS SITTING, AS SHITTES ALLEGEDLY GATECRASHED NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
It is recalled that, the Shittes have regularly embarked on protests to demand the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky , since December 2015. The leader of the movement was arrested along with his wife after soldiers killed hundreds of their members.
The killings took place in Zaria, Kaduna State, between December 12 and 15, 2015,and this include some of El-Zakzaky’s children. A judicial panel was thereafter set up by the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, found the military culpable in the massacre, recommending a major-general for trial.
Penpushing reports that, the Federal Government has not prosecute anyone for the mass killings till date, while it is on record that, at least 347 people were confirmed dead and given mass burial in Kaduna.
The International Criminal Court is currently investigating the December 2015 massacre, while some Rights Groups which include; Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have also condemned the killings.
Penpushing further reports that, till date the leader of the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeena, are still being detained and are being prosecuted for their alleged roles in the killing of a soldier.
