Herbalist encouraged me to kill to appease spirits- serial killer suspect

The re-arrested alleged serial killer, Sunday Shodipe  said he was advised by an herbalist he met in police detention to escape and killed more people to enable him used victim’s blood to appease some spirits.

Penpushing reports that, the 19 year old suspects made the disclosure to journalists, when he was paraded on Wednesday alongside other 32 other suspects at the Eleyele Police Command in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

“After escaping from Mokola, I needed to appease the god and that was why I went to Akinyele to kill the woman. Blood gushed out and I recited what Baba always said I should recite, mentioning his name. I disappeared as usual”, he said

Penpushing further reports that, the Commissioner of Police Joe Enwonwu while confirming this said the victim (Oladeji Funmilayo) attacked by Shodipe was taking to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, but died thereafter.

The Police boss also explained that he would not have detained the suspect in police custody if the correctional centre in Ibadan was not overcrowded, adding that the suspect  will now be kept in a correctional centre.

Penpushing also reports that, the suspect was arrested on July 17 for killings at Akinyele area of Ibadan during coronavirus  lockdown, and  reportedly killed at least three women within two months.

The suspect later escaped from police custody on August 11 but  was rearrested on Augus 23,confessing that he was able to escape from detention due to negligence of the police
