Gunmen kill Nigerian university lecturer
A lecturer of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (UNIZIK) in Anambra State, Fabian Chinedu has been shot dead by gunmen along Aroma Junction in Awka, the state capital, an incident said to have occurred on Monday at about 10:10 p.m.
Penpushing reports that sources on Tuesday said the gunmen attempted to snatch the victim’s car during the attack, but resisted prompting the attackers to rained bullets on him and thereafter drove away the victim’s vehicle
The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed this incident in a statement on Tuesday, adding that the police authorities in Anambra State have begun investigations into the killing
The police spokesperson, a superintendent of police said the command has commiserated with the family and friends of the victim, including the management of the university, equally called on Nigerians to support them with any useful information that can aid the ongoing investigation
“The command also urges members of the public who might have seen the vehicle or any abandoned vehicle with similar description to report to the closest police station’ ,the police public relations officer said.
