Gunmen kill district head, party chairman in Kastina state
The district head of Yantumaki, Abubakar Atiku, in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State was on Monday shot dead by armed bandits .who spent about two hours in the community to silence the victim
Penpushing reports that, the gunmen trailed the district during downpour in the community until 12am when he fell to their bullets a few minutes to 12 midnight, while a palace guard was also reported to sustain injury during the attack.
The palace source said bandits might have being assassins in view of the observation that nobody was hurt, except the palace guard who was hit by stray bullets.
Penpushing further reports that, in a related development, Chairman of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Batsari Local Government Area, Abdulhamid Sani, was killed following alleged inability of the deceased to secure the release of one arrested bandit.
The Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incidents, adding that the authorities were doing their best to protect the lives and property of Nigerians and they would continue doing that, whatever the circumstances may be.
The assasinated party boss was a member, reconciliation committee working to ensure peaceful coexistence between Fulani residents, who are predominantly living in the bush and Hausa communities, who live in the town.
Meanwhile, some residents were of the view that, the chairman was killed by a faction of unrepentant armed men who accused him of failure to secure the release of one of them who was arrested by the security agents, weeks ago.
