Gunmen kidnap 23 persons in Abuja

Gunmen reported to be about 40 have allegedly abducted 23 persons in the Kawu community in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a community which shares boundaries with Niger and Kaduna States

Penpushing reports that the Councilor, representing the area, Hon Abdulmumini Zakari, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the council, said the gunmen, came into the community through the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State.

‘They divided themselves into groups and some went into the palace of the district head, Abdurrahman Ali, where they abducted his son, Lukman, and his wife, whom he married two weeks ago. Others attacked the compound of Alhassan Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu, and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward. They abducted him along with his four children’, he said.

Penpushing further reports that Zakari added that the bandits invaded the home of the Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, and abducted him along with his two wives and some children, affirming that the incident occurred on Thursday.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command Public Relations Officer Joseph Adeh, a Superintendent of Police, when contacted as at the time of filing this report said she had yet to confirm the incident.

Penpushing also reports that Adeh explained that she was as at press time was busy with the police recruitment exercise, and could not confirm the kidnap, but assured that the command will solve the issue
