Gunmen burn woman alive in Imo state

Gunmen have attacked Amagu Ihube, a community in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, and set ablaze an elderly woman, as well as residence of a retired Director of the State Security Service, Emeka Ngwu, set in flame among the houses razed by the gunmen during the attack.

Penpushing reports that sources said the incident happened on Tuesday, and the woman was said to be in the house of the retired Director when the gunmen launched the attack, and was caught up by the fire and burnt to death

The attackers in same vein, razed houses of two other prominent residents in the community, as well as residence of Emeka Okoronkwo, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, and that of Nnamdi Obiaraeri, a former dean of the Faculty of Law of the Imo State University, Owerri.

Penpushing further reports that Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, but was yet to give details of the attack as at the time of filing this report and promised doing that later.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command who is an Assistant Superintendent of Police, in further reaction said the police had begun an investigation to track down the fleeing suspects.
