NIGERIAN WORKERS, STUDENTS PROTEST OVER POOR FUNDING OF EDUCATION

The National President of National Association of Nigeria Students(NANS), Danielson Akpan while  speaking with journalists, said the dwindling allocation of funding to the sector is saddening, adding,“the funding keeps dropping every year’

Penpushing also reports that, in similar vein, the head of International Relations Department at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said much attention is not given to the education sector, pointing out that the major reason for the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike is poor funding of the sector.

However, it is recalled that, the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) embarked on strike on November 4 over issues including unpaid allowances, poor funding for the sector and non-implementation of the 2009 agreement with the federal government among others.
