Gunmen abduct catholic priest in Imo state
The Priest of Christ the King Parish, Ezinnachi-Ugwaku Community, in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, Jude Maduka has been kidnapped by gunmen from his new adoration site while on inspection at the new site
Penpushing reports that the Chancellor and Secretary of the Catholic Diocese of Okigwe, Princewill Iwuanyawu confirmed the incident in a statement but was silent as at the time of filing this report whether the kidnappers had contacted the diocese for ransom
The Chancellor and Secretary of the Catholic Diocese of Okigwe, in the statement, however, called for prayers that the abducted Catholic Priest who was ordained on 22 September 2012, may come back safe and sound
“He was kidnapped from his new adoration site while on inspection at the new site. We solicit your prayers that he may come back to us safe and sound. He was ordained a Catholic priest on 22 September 2012’, he added
Penpushing further reports that the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, when contacted confirmed the incident explaining that the police had launched an operation to rescue the kidnapped clergyman.
