GUNMEN ABDUCT 20 MEN IN KATSINA WHILE RETURNING FROM WEDDING CEREMONY
The gunmen abducted twenty-three of the men and took them to a forest known as Rogo-Rogo, while the four women in the group were set free, and out of the 23 men that were abducted, two escaped and one were hit by a bullet in the arm during the attack.
Penpushing gathered that, with fear of being a burden in case he doesn’t make it, the gunmen freed him and gave him a description of how to get to the highway, while as at the time of filing this report; he is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina.
The released victim was operated on and two bullets removed from his arm, while source informed that, the gunmen have thereafter called the villages to demand a ransom of N50 million, which was later reduced to N40 million.
Penpushing recalled that, just few days ago, an elder in the community called one of the abducted victims (Surajh), who was the driver of one of the two cars, and in response pleaded with the elder to help them so they can be released, as they are adversely affected by the severe weather and hunger.
However, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isa, when contacted as at the time of this reports said that after checking their data, the police are not aware of the incident, but in contrary to this one of the men from the community said the case was reported immediately.
