Group calls for capacity building training for women

The Voice of Women (VOW), Ogun State Chapter has called for need on capacity building training for women in the society, as a way to add value and progress  to nation developmental growth across the globe.

Penpushing reports that, this was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of  the stakeholders deliberations as part of activities to mark the Women World Day, held at Conference Hotels, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital

The communiqué compiled by Mrs Francisca Adebajo, Damilola Akintibubo and Sherifat Yusuf-Ajibade also posited that, women should demand equal rights from their male counterparts at all levels and in all  ramifications.

Penpushing further reports that, other resolutions include; that the group should be voice for the voiceless women in the society, women should be well represented in events pertaining to societal development.

*Women should be well educated, with focus on girl child in schools, women should be of moral conduct to qualify them for leadership roles, women should speak with one voice and teach gender equality right from home.

* There should be more awareness and sensitization programme organized for them on various medium, which include television, radio and posters among others and  they should demand for their rights without violence.

Penpushing also reports that, earlier in his welcome speech, the Convener, Mrs Doyin Ogunbiyi, declared that Voice of Women was determined to provoke systematic change, as well as transformation to world of gender justice and equality through advocacy.

The convener explained that, advocacy in all its forms seeks to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society are able to  have their voice heard on issues that are important to them.

Penpushing reports that Ogunbiyi added that, the organization was established to defend and safeguard women’s rights and have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives.

The convener noted that, women live in an unjust world where gender inequality remains pervasive lamenting that women’s human rights are violated with impunity and effectively hold back women around the world.

Meanwhile, the event was anchored by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Deaconess Funke Fadugba who also doubles as Chairman, Editorial Board of Penpushing Media
