Governor Oborevwori, deputy, commissioners defect to all progressives congress
The Governor of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who contested and won under the banner of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Penpushing reports that Oborevwori was joined in the defection by his deputy and commissioners, while this came a few days after Oborevwori’s counterpart in Akwa Ibom state, Umo Eno, who is also Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor, endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office
The defection of the Governor, Deputy and Commissioners was announced at a press briefing held on Wednesday in Asaba, the state capital, however, Eno on his part has yet to officially defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Penpushing further reports that defection of Oborevwori to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is considered in political circle as a big blow to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because no other political party has governed the state since 1999 to date apart from the party.
The political sources in same vein noted that Obervwori’s predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who was Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 elections, is equally preparing to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).
