International Press Institute holds World Congress September in Vienna

The International Press Institute (IPI) is to hold its World Congress in September in Vienna in Northern-Eastern of Austria, just as the Nigeria chapter disclosed plans to fund advocacy and training of journalists in Nigeria and other Africa countries.

Penpushing reports that, Secretary of the International Press Institute (IPI), Nigeria chapter, Raheem Adedoyin, made this known at the end of the meeting of the institute held physically and virtual.

The scribe explained that, the 2020 World Congress was earlier scheduled to hold in New York located in North-Eastern of United States of America (USA) in June, but rescheduled to hold in Vienna

‘The 2021 IPI- World Congress scheduled for New York in June has been rescheduled to September in Vienna. It will be a hybrid event ( in- person and virtual means attendance).  IPI is considering funding for advocacy and training of journalists in Nigeria and other Africa countries’, he said.

Penpushing further reports that, Adedoyin, member representing Nigeria on the International Press Institute (IPI) Executive Board explained that the meeting chaired by Kabiru Yusuf  was opened with the observance of prayers for the institute leaders who died last year ( late Mallam Ismaila Isa, Mallam  Wada Maida and Mr. Sam Nda- Isaiah).

The meeting also approved the draft  constitution,  prepared by a committee headed by Fred Ohwahwa, adding that, the chairman thanked the committee for doing a thorough job and urged members to consider a line- by- line ,a  neat copy, as amended,  prepared by Hajia Sani and Mr. Adewale Kupoluyi .
