GOVERNOR MAKINDE ORDERS DEMOLITION OF ILLEGAL CORRECTIONAL CENTER BULDING
The one storey building, where almost 300 inmates were chained and maltreated is located at the back of Olore Mosque, Ojoo, Ibadan, and on discovery the police command stormed the place and set free number of victims.
Penpushing further reports that, Makinde promise that Government will prosecute all those involved in the illegal activities to the full extent of the law, adding that the Government will also look deeper on the issues, and how to resettle the victims, reunite them with their families and ensure they remain safe.
“Our administration will continue to do everything possible to ensure this kind of illegal activity is stamped out of our State’, the Governor assured,just as he called on the people of the State to report such illegal activities in their communities to the appropriate authority, saying that it was a tip off by a member of the public to the police that led to the rescue of over 200 illegally detained persons.
Penpushing also reports that, the Governor and his team visited the rehabilitation center where the freed victims were been taking care of, and mobilised the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, the Social Welfare Agency to administer immediate palliative measures for the victims.
