Governor Buni distances self from Atiku’s coalition

The Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has distance himself from joining the opposition leaders’ coalition being spearheaded by former Vice-President and Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar.

Penpushing reports that Buni made the declaration in a statement issued by the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, emphasizing that he’s not interested in joining the said political coalition

The Governor faulted a viral text message which claimed that he and four other Governors of All Progressives Congress (APC) had concluded arrangements to defect to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the coalition being championed by Atiku before the 2027 general elections.

Penpushing further reports that the statement described the viral message as baseless fabrications, unwarranted imagination and assumptions that did not cross path with reality in any way, shape and form.

The Governor emphasized that at no time was the author of the text ever been close to him to think that he could attempt to predict his political movement, adding that he (Buni) is no ordinary member of All Progressives Congress (APC)

“Buni is no ordinary member of APC; he is not just an APC governor. He is APC in all ramifications, with APC flowing in his veins. His contributions to building APC as a two-term National Secretary and National Chairman who chaired the party’s convention committee makes him unique and whose imagination of leaving the party cannot be speculated’, the statement reads.

Penpushing also reports that the statement stated that the author and his paymasters must have been interested in Buni’s political sagacity and only wished they would have the likes of the governor, adding that must be wishful thinking.

The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor Nasir El-Rufai are spearheading the formation of a coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2027 general election.
