Governor Abiodun’s Chief of Staff, Salisu wins All Progressives Congress ticket to contest Senatorial election in 2023
The Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Shuaib Salisu has won ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the position of the Ogun Central Senatorial District of the state in the forthcoming election in 2023
Penpushing reports that, Salisu defeated other five candidates at the party primary held at Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta Ogun State Capital, on Saturday, which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other security agents
The results of the election as announced by Rt Hon Remmy Hazzan, the returning officer showed that Salisu polled 301 votes, while other contestants include Senator Gbenga Obadara scored 2, Ganiyu Hamza recorded 62, Princess Olatunrera Majekodunmi-Oniru, the only female aspirant polled 2 votes, while Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, AbdulKareem Olamilekan and Adetayo Aderemi recorded zero votes
Penpushing further reports that, Salisu a former Deputy Chief of Staff of the former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, was not at the venue of the primary when the election was ongoing, but appeared just as the votes were being sorted and counted
The other contestants, however, stayed glued at the venue throughout the duration of the poll as delegates from all the six local government areas comprising Ogun Central Senatorial District of the state filed in to cast their votes
Penpushing also reports that, the Commissioner of Police Lanre Bankole accompanied by top police officers which include Divisional Police Officers were on ground to ensure adequate security at the venue, and to avoid any breach of peace
