GOVERNOR ABIODUN SETS UP VISITATION PANEL ON TAI SOLARIN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

The statement added that, the Governor decried the poor state of affairs and infrastructure at the College, and called for stakeholders’ intervention on issues of content, quality and staffing at the College, noting that the State, being a front-runner in education, cannot afford to endure mediocrity.

The Governor assured that Government would do everything humanly possible to reverse the decadence observed from the way the institution was currently operating.

Penpushing further reports that,on the Panel, are leading Agricultural Economist and Farm Management scholar, Prof. John Olusegun Yetongo Aihonsu, President, TASCE Alumni Association, Mr. Julius Adeyemi, a retired Permanent Secretary in the State, Mr. Joseph Onabanjo, former lecturer at the Tai Solarin University, Dr. Dapo Odukoya, and a former member, Ogun State House of Assembly, Barr. Adebowale Ojuri, while the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Samuel Adeetan, would serve as the Secretary.

The statement added that, part of the nine-point terms of reference for the Panel also include; reviewing the relationship between various organs and critical stakeholders of the institution and the quality of leadership being provided, examining the financial management of the institution and determining whether the funds from various sources were prudently applied.

Penpushing also reports that, other terms of reference are; to determine the actual staff on nominal roll, their existence, relevance of qualifications and suggest ways to reduce personnel cost as appropriate, by assessing the staff and student ratio, in line with the National Commission for Colleges of Education guidelines, to determine the viability and sustainability of the institution on a long term basis, to identify any other issues related to the objectives of the assignment and make recommendations for Government.
