The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has embarked on inspection of the ongoing road construction projects in Ogun East Senatorial District which is as part of his administration’s Urban Regeneration Scheme.

The Governor highlighted key infrastructural projects designed to open up the state for more investment opportunities, including the construction of a dry port and the development of over 4,000 affordable housing units for medium- and upper-income earners across Abeokuta, Ilaro, Sagamu, Iperu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ota.

Penpushing further reports that in addition, he announced that plans have been finalized to extend the Blue Rail Line from Agbado to Kajola and the Red Line from Okokomaiko in Lagos to Agbara in Ogun State.

“We have built over 4,000—soon to be 5,000—affordable houses for medium- and upper-income earners across the state. In Ilaro, they are eager for me to come and commission those houses. We have similar projects in Iperu, Sagamu, and two locations in Abeokuta’, he said.

‘We began our Urban Regeneration at the GRA in Abeokuta and launched the PMB Estate in the same city. I am particularly excited because, today, I can see the progress we’ve made—including updates from the airport, where conveyor belts, metal detectors, and luggage scanners are now operational. I said to myself, ‘Something new has happened in Ogun State,’ and this must be sustained’, Abiodun stated

Penpushing also reports that he disclosed that 11 economically significant roads across the state have been identified and awarded for reconstruction, assuring that fairness, equity, and inclusivity will be prioritized in the distribution of projects.

The Governor while acknowledging that it is impossible to reconstruct all roads in the state within eight years, however, expressed pride in the progress made so far by his adminitration.

‘There are many roads we would love to reconstruct, but the truth is that no administration can fix all the required roads in just eight years—it’s simply impossible. However, the amount of work we have done is substantial. I can confidently say that we have likely constructed more roads than two previous administrations combined’, he emphasized

Penpushing reports that Abiodun speaking at Ode-Remo, disclosed that the 12-kilometer Akaka-Ilara-Ilisan road has been awarded for construction, while work on the Ode-Isara Road will commence soon.

The Governor during inspection of the 15-kilometer Sagamu-Iperu-Ode-Sapaade Road, described it as a critical arterial route that serves as a bypass to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Penpushing further reports that he explained that the project was divided into three phases and upgraded from a single to a dual carriageway due to the cooperation of residents, who willingly removed structures to allow for road expansion.

The Governor in similar vein at the inspection of the 14-kilometer Sagamu-Ayepe road in Sagamu Local Government Area, assured residents that all strategically important roads with economic value in Sagamu would be completed before the end of his administration.

Penpushing also reports that Abiodun at the Igbeba Junction-Yidi Road, commended the quality of work done, particularly the three-foot drainage system, which he said would facilitate free water flow during the rainy season.

The Governor recalled the terrible state of the road before reconstruction, describing it as a “swimming pool,” but assured residents that the perennial erosion issue in the city would soon be resolved.

Penpushing reports that he expressed gratitude to the residents of the State for the opportunity to serve, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, agriculture, youth empowerment, job creation, infrastructure development, and other key sectors.
