Governor Abiodun defeats kinsman Adebutu to emerge re-elected governor
The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has defeated his kinsman Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) with 13,915 votes to win election returning him for a second term in office.
Penpushing reports that Dapo Abiodun representing the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the Saturday Governorship race comes from Iperu-Remo while his closest rival Ladi Adebutu also hails from the town located in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.
The Governorship results of the keenly contested poll as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) on Sunday at the headquarters of the electoral body showed that All Progressives Congress(APC) recorded 276,298 followed by Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) with 262, 383 and African Democratic Congress(ADC) coming third with 94,754
Penpushing further reports that the Returning Officer Prof Kayode Adebowale while announcing the final results said candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC) having satisfied the electoral requirement won the election and declared him the winner
“I am the returning officer of the election conducted on 18th March 2023. The election was conducted. That I announced that the All Progressives Congress having satisfied the the electoral requirement, I hereby announced Oladapo Abiodun as the winner of the Governorship election and is hereby return elected”,Adebowale declared
