Gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi sentenced to death by hanging for killing girlfriend

The gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi who allegedly murdered and dismembered his, 24-year-old girlfriend Salome Adaidu, a Youth Corps Member serving in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT)has been sentenced to death.

Penpushing reports that it is recalled that Ajayi was in January arrested in Agwan Sarki Orozo, Nasarawa State, while attempting to dispose of the severed head of Adaidu, following his arrest he was charged and arraigned before the state High Court in Lafia.

The convict was arraigned on one count of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, which carries the death penalty, and upon his appearance in January, he was ordered to be remanded pending formal arraignment.

Penpushing further reports that the convict appeared in court in May as the murder trial progressed, who entering the courtroom was noticed holding a Bible and fervently praying, however, after the prosecution and defence submitted their final written addresses, the presiding judge, adjourned the matter for judgment to June 26, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Presiding judge, Justice Simon Aboki in his judgement found Ajayi guilty of killing and dismembering Adaidu and thereafter sentenced him to death
