
Ghastly auto crash: Police arraign Anthony Joshua’s driver
The Ogun State Police Command was on Friday arraigned Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of the Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) involved in auto crash along Lagos-Ibadan expressway that killed two members of boxing star Anthony Joshua’s entourage.
Penpushing reports that Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement disclosed that the 46-year-old driver was arraigned before a Sagamu Magistrate Court.
The statement explained that the accused was charged on Thursday, January 2, 2026, adding that the case was, however, adjourned to January 20, 2026 for further proceedings.

‘The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged at the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026, and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026,” the statement read.
Penpushing further reports that it would be recalled that the ghastly accident occurred on December 29, 2025, in the Lexus car conveying Joshua and members of his team and a stationary truck on the highway

The renowned world boxing champion sustained injuries, was rushed to hospital in Lagos and following adequate medical attention was discharged 48 hours, while his two friends died on the spot
Penpushing also reports that the police had earlier detained the driver as part of ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, which sparked widespread public attention due to Joshua’s international profile.
