Fuel tanker catches fire kills 9,injures 2 in Ogun state

A loaded tanker with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), on Wednesday crashed while  descending towards  Odo-Seje slope along Owode-Ajilete road and subsequently caught fire which claimed nine lives

Penpushing reports that eyewitness report that, the loaded petrol tanker was coming from Owode inbound Ajilete when the driver lost control following brake failure, with the head of the truck detached from the body

The tanker fell on its side at the tail end of the slope where motorcyclists are always gathered before the  incoming bus from Ajilete to Owode, conveying eggs rammed into it and  resulted in fire explosion.

Penpushing further reports that, nine persons were reported killed  as well as two others sustained serious injury, and as at the time of filing this reports corpses were said to have being recovered by the families for burial.

The driver of the truck and his motor boy ran away were said to have ran away following the sad incident, while Owode Divisional Police Station  was said to be handling the case as at the time of this report.

Penpushing also reports that,the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), in a statement commiserated with the families of the dead, and urged  tanker drivers to always carry adequate maintenance of their vehicles and give consideration to other road users.
