Fuel Price Hike: Ogun State workers to work thrice a week, says Head of Service

The Ogun State Civil servants are to henceforth go to office three days in a week contrary to the known five working days of Monday to Friday in the civil service schedule
Penpushing reports that the government position on this was made known in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday following recent hike in fuel price which in same vein affects transportation system in the state.
The statement issued by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya explained that the Governor gave the approval of the gesture which he said was aimed at further easing the burden on the workers who now face more significant challenges to work.
Penpushing further reports that Onasanya expatiated that the approval has it that officers on grade level 01-14 will now have two days off duty per week, while officers on grade level 15-17 are to maintain one day off duty per week
“Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved two days off duty per week for officers on Grade Level 01-14, while officers on Grade Level 15-17 are to maintain one day off duty per week”, Onasanya wrote
“The gesture is aimed at further easing the burden on the teeming workers who now face more significant challenges commuting to work.The gesture is expected to translate to substantial relief while also enhancing service delivery through a more motivated and energized workforce”, he added
Penpushing also reports that Onasanya
described the Governor as highly committed to the welfare of workers, and
urged all accounting officers to immediately implement the policy in their respective MDAs by working out modalities to ensure that the day off system is scheduled in such a way that service delivery is not compromised.
The Head of Service stated that the Governor had, in July 2023, introduced the one day off work policy for all grade levels, adding that the current extension to two days off work for GL 01-14 is to further reduce the financial burden on workers and increase productivity.
