Freelance Broadcasters sign memorandum of understanding with Crescent University for take off of college of broadcasting

The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Crescent University for the take off of College of Broadcasting located in Abeokuta which is the brainchild of the association
Penpushing reports that, the association led by its National President, Desmond Nwachukwu and Crescent University led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibraheem Gbajabiamila signed the Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) at the university campus located along Ayetoro road, Abeokuta.
The President of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) in his speech explained that the concept of the college was borne out of the desire to sanitize and salvage the broadcast industry, which in recent time has become all comers’ affairs
‘The concept of the College was borne out of the desire to sanitaize and salvage the broadcast industry which has practically become an all comers profession. There are countless number of people on our airwaves now who has little or no understanding of the nitty gritty of broadcasting’, he said
Penpushing further reports that, Nwachukwu pointed out that, hence the increased blunder that we constantly observe on radio and television, expressing optimism that with the establishment of the college, it will provide the missing link
‘We are optimistic that the college which is operate on 70% practical and 30% theory will provide the missing link. It also important to state that we settled for Crescent University as a result of its academic standards and the highly valued reputation of the proprietor’,Nwachukwu emphasised.
Penpushing also reports that, the proactive President of the association disclosed that in a couple of days, the Governing Council and Management Team will be announced, emphasisng that the authorities will make sure the broadcasting industry is not bastardise.
The Vice Chancellor on his own part said the decision of the management of the institution in accepting the proposal of the association for the affiliation was borne out of the leadership quality, and genuine desire to transform the broadcasting industry for better.
Penpushing reports that, Gbajabiamila boasted that the university is of quality standard with cerebral lecturers who are ready to contribute their quota positively in providing qualitative academic for the students of the college, and in return produced well trained broadcasters
The founder of Penpushing media Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji in his brief remarks commended the initiative of Nwachukwu and his team towards the establishment of the college, which he said is going to be beneficiary to the practitioners and would be praticitioners.
Penpushing further reports that, the veteran journalist and former Secretary of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) South West of the country said he was impressed in the leadership quality of Nwachukwu, who is known for quality in the broadcasting industry and journalism
The dignitaries at the event include 2nd National Vice President of the association, Comrade Hellen Njoku, National General Secretary, Comrade Taiwo Adebayo-Gold; Chairman Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Seun Awodele, the College legal adviser, Barrister Luqman Abdullahi, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Lekki Fm Olabisi Sanni
Penpushing reports that, others include: Barrister Ademola Ajibola(Registrar),Dr Kola Adesina(Head of Department,Mass Communication) and Dr Ayo Odetoyinbo(representative of the University on Governing Council of the College) among others
