Former Nassarawa State Governor Al-Makura, wife arrested over alleged misappropriation of funds
A former Governor of Nasarawa State and serving senator, Tanko Al-Makura, and his wife, Mairo have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged misappropriation of funds.
Penpushing reports that as at the time of filing this report, sources from the commission said Al-Makura and wife are being grilled by operatives of the anti-graft agency at its headquarters in Abuja
The allegations against the couples were sketchy as of press time, but our sources said their arrest relates to an alleged breach of trust and misappropriation of funds allegedly perpetrated during the former governor’s eight-year administration as Nasarawa State governor.
Penpushing further reports that, the embattled former Governor served ruled Nasarawa State between 2011 and 2019 before he was elected into the National Assembly as Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District.
The Head Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), Wilson Uwujaren as at the time of filing this report was quoted saying that he was yet to be briefed on the development.
Penpushing also reports that, in similar vein, media aide of the former governor, Danjuma Joseph, said he was not aware of the arrest, adding that he was only aware that his boss left Nassarawa State for Abuja.
