Former Finance Commissioner, Sogunle clinches Labour Party ticket as Governorship candidate in Ogun state
Former Commissioner of Finance in Ogun State, Kehinde Sogunle on Thursday clinched ticket of Labour Party(LP) as the Governorship candidate of the party ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general election.
Penpushing reports that the primary of the party which produced Sogunle was held at the headquarters of the Nigerian Labour Congress(NLC) situated along Moshood Abiola Way, Abeokuta, with delegates from all the twenty local government areas of the state.
The Governorship candidate and his running mate Dr(Mrs) Aishat Lawal-Keshinro were pronounced flagbearers of the party, following 100 votes affirmation which was equally supported by the delegates and other members of the party in attendance.
Penpushing further reports that, the primary was monitored and witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electroral Commission(INEC), security agencies, journalists, as well as observers which include: Trade Union Congress, Civil Society Organisations, Nigeria Labour Congress and Ogun State Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The Governorship candidate in his acceptance speech,noted that the need for a third force, a genuine party of the people, stressing that, a credible alternative with credible people has become critically imperative, expressing optimism that Labour Party (LP) is destined to take over the state
“The events in the past few days are indicating that, their time is up, our time is now. Our Labour Party, the true party of the people is here. The national and global enthusiasm that followed the primaries election of the popular and credible Peter Obi as the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party is a glaring pointer”, he added
Penpushing also reports that, Sogunle said he humbly accepted the call for servant leadership, adding that this challenge of operating in the blue ocean, to lead a ballot revolution that will stimulate a productive, positive sustainable change and an accelerated and real landmark development
“We are not money bags,we are fantastic idea bags and since ideas rule the world,we are set to serve Ogun State. Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. This is our time. We are the generation now! We will fulfill a trailblazing and mind-blowing purpose,and leave a worthy legacy of integrity,competency and exposure for the generation next”, Sogunle emphasised
