Footballer slumps, dies during training

A footballer Chisom Oodo has slumped and died during a match training session in Ogrute, a community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, while there was suspicion that he suffered cardiac arrest during the training

Penpushing reports that the deceased hails from Aji, another community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the state and was a member of Ezike Oba Football Legends and association of footballers in the council area.

The President of Concerned Igbo-Eze North Youths, Chijioke Eze who confirmed the sad news recalled that the deceased excelled during the Igbo-North Family Football Tournament recently held in December in the area.

Penpushing further reports that Eze said following the stellar performance at the tournament, the deceased was subsequently selected for trial at the Enugu Rangers Football Club, lamenting that it was while he was participating in the training that the incident happened.

Meanwhile, a member of Ezike Obasi Football Legends, Chidiebere Uroko, in a post on Facebook on Monday said the Chairperson of the association, Sani Onoja, has commiserated with the family over his loss, and enjoined them to take heart, adding that its only Almighty God who knows the best.
