FLASHBACK: I WAS ONCE PERSUADED TO DEMOLISH YINKA AYEFELE’S RADIO STATION, GOVERNOR AJIMOBI CONFESSES
The broadcast obtained by Penpushing stated thus, “when we contested the first and won, a lot (of people) told us to demolish the radio station because your programmes and broadcasts are against my government. Your boss, Yinka Ayefele, was also using songs to insult us’.
“I didn’t see any reason why I should demolish the studio. If Ayefele is not for us today, he (will) support us later in future. Ayefele is beside me now and I pray the business will keep flourishing’, Ajimobi stated in the intyerview
The Governor who is also in a faceoff with traditional institutions in the State, while speaking further in that broadcast interview described the radio station as the best in Oyo State, stressing that, “without any equivocation, I must confess that this radio station is the best in Oyo State,” .
However, in a twist of event, Governor Abiola Ajimobi rolled out caterpillars in the early hours on Sunday, and pulled down substantial part of the station, which also serve as the Music House of the founder.
Penpushing recalled that, the location of the building has generated controversies in recent weeks, with the Oyo State Government alleging that it contravenes Urban and Physical Planning laws of the State, but Ayefele claimed contrary, arguing that he obtained all necessary documents for the construction.
Penpushing reports that, the matter was said to be in court, when the Oyo State Government embarked on the demolition of the building estimated to cost N800milion, and also provide employment for number of people.
