Five killed, 14 injured on Lagos-Ibadan expressway crash
A fatal road crash at Kara junction axis of Mowe-Sagamu along Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Wednesday claimed lives of five persons, while fourteen others sustained serious injury and currently receiving treatment in hospital
Penpushing reports that, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),Ogun State Sector Commander, Umar Ahmed confirmed the crash, adding that a total number of nineteen persons were involved, comprising 3 male adult, 1 male child and 15 female adult.
‘14 persons were injured 03 male adult, 10 female adult, 1 male child. A total of 05 persons were recorded death 01 male adult and 04 female adult;, Ahmed said, adding that two vehicles were involved with registration numbers APP397YA (HOWO WHITE TRUCK) and EPE575XA (MAZDA WHITE BUS)’,he said
The Sector Command said, the probable causes of the fatal crash were dangerous driving, excessive speed which led to loss of control on the part of the Mazda bus driver who ran into truck at the rear according to eye witness report.
Penpushing further reports that, he said ,the injured victims have been taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital( OOUTH) and Idera Hospital, Sagamu for medical attention, while the corpse were deposited at Fakoya Mortuary.
The Sector Commander Corp’s Commander said the Police Motor Traffic Department(MTD) Mowe Division have been contacted for necessary action, and advised the motoring public to drive with all sense of responsibility and caution, obey traffic rules and regulations and avoid excessive speed.
