
Fire kills 11-year-old child on New Year’s Day
An 11-year-old child has been killed in a fire incident with property valued at about N10million was salvaged, while losses were estimated at N20 million on New Year’s Day in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Penpushing reports that the spokesman of the Federal Fire Service, Paul Abraham disclosed this in a statement adding that preliminary findings indicated that the fire was caused by a candle left unattended.

‘Bayelsa State recorded a tragic incident in Yenagoa where a residential fire resulted in the death of a child. He added that property valued at about N10million was salvaged, while losses were estimated at N20million’, he stated.
“In Yenagoa, firefighters responded to a residential fire involving a wooden structure. Although property worth about N10m was saved, losses were estimated at N20m. Sadly, the incident claimed the life of an 11-year-old child, with preliminary findings indicating the fire was caused by a candle left unattended’, Abraham said.
