Few weeks to Ondo state governorship election, fire guts electoral commission’s office
Barely a month to the Governorship election in Ondo State, the head office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC (in Akure, the State Capital has been gutted by fire.
Penpushing reports that, the fire broke out at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, which affected the container housing smart card readers, while as at the time of filing this report, the fire service were still trying to quench the fire.
The spokesman of the commission Festus Okoye, who is in Ondo State, confirmed the development and disclosed that as at the time of filing this report, the incident he was at the office with some other staff of the commission trying to contain the fire incident.
Penpushing further reports that, the image maker of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said the commission would launch an investigation into the incident.
