FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS COMMITTED TO RURAL WOMEN EMPOWERMENT, SAYS MINISTER

The Minister, represented by the Senior Social Welfare Officer in the Ministry, Mrs. Hannat Lawal, said the forum became imperative, as it was observed that in many developing counties, necessary support and care of the rural and urban communities had continued to decline, resulting in severe socio-economic crisis.

Penpushing further reports that, she however noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s paramount objective was to ensure better life for them, calling on the society, religious groups, government at all levels and individuals to assist rural women have access to loan, in order to enhance their productivity in farm work and food processing.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Ranti Oladeinde, in her welcome address appreciated Federal Government for organising the platform, aimed at reducing poverty level of rural women and improve their standard of living through vocational skill acquisition.

Penpushing also reports that, she said government was ready to support women to be self-sufficient and self-reliant, adding that the State Government has empowered both youths and women through various empowerment programmes, such as micro credit scheme, mobile skill acquisition programme, in which over ten thousand youths and women have benefitted, thereby reducing unemployment rate, as well as improve the standard of living of its citizens.
