European expresses desire to be a Yoruba

An European,Paula Gomes who is Cultural Ambassador to Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has declared that if she has opportunity of returning to the world again, she would prefer to be a Yoruba.

Penpushing reports that, Gomes made this known while speaking to indigenous students of Oyo State, during a tourism to Oyo palace, adding that Yoruba culture and language is full of wisdom that should not be neglect

The Cultural Ambassador known as Aduke urged Yoruba not to be ashamed of their language, tradition and culture, rather should be proud about it, warning that loosing it, is losing their identities.

“If you lose it, you will lose your identity, and if you lose your identity then you will lose your respect. I  love Yoruba, the culture, wisdom, spirituality, and knowledge, as you can see, I’m here, I left my country, I left family, I left my comfort, I left everything in my country, for preservation of Yoruba culture’.

“Yoruba should not let religion brought to them by Westerner to take over their inherited culture, Yoruba forefathers are more civilized and full of wisdom than what the Europeans’ brought to them as a religion”.

Penpushing further reports that, Gomes, buttressing his submission noted that, even westerner that claimed to be civilized are having challenges of coronavirus and they cannot have a control of it.

‘You people are here, almost not having Covid -19, you are living a good life without fear, all traditional medicine you have, have been saving your life. So why not proud of your culture and tradition’, she said.

The Cultural Ambassador argued that if religion the Europeans brought is the best, why are they having challenges to control the pandemic that is killing humanity, stressing that, “if you don’t go back to the past, then humanity will go.

Penpushing reports that, she explained that, Jesus and Muhamed are some people ancestors, and queried that why Yoruba prefer to be worshiping other people’s ancestors, arguing that the Yoruba ancestors are also closed to Olodumare

The Ambassador expressed disappointment that Nigeria government invest more than millions of naira in tourism of Mecca, and Jerusalem, and using the proceeds to develop their countries, when Nigeria has hosts of tourists attractions which have been neglected.

Penpushing further reports that, Gomes urged that, Yoruba nation to be proud of their cultural inheritance and make is tourists attraction for people across the globe to come and see, as they (tourists) go to Jerusalem and Mecca
