
Engineering expert, Olumayowa Idowu bags young professional excellence award for leadership
The Abeokuta Chapter, Chairman of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, has been bestowed with the prestigious Young Professional Excellence Award for Leadership.
Penpushing reports that the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO), honoured Idowu having been found to inspire change, mobilize teams, and deliver impactful engineering solutions that address socio-economic challenges.
The President Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO), Refilwe Buthelezi presented award, at the 11th UNESCO – Africa Engineering Week and 9th African Engineering Conference, held at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala, Uganda.

The theme of the conference, “Leveraging Engineering Innovations and Technology to Accelerate Africa’s Socio-Economic Transformation,” set the stage for the recognition of young leaders across the continent who are driving change within the Engineering sector.
Penpushing further reports Idowu, was selected for this award after a rigorous screening process, which considered nominees from Professional Engineering Institutions across Africa, with record showing that his leadership and dedication to the advancement of engineering in Nigeria and Africa have set him apart as a trailblazer in the field.
The awardee while speaking expressed appreciation for being considered adding that he is humbled stating that the nominations was a testament to the collective effort of his colleagues and mentors
“I am deeply humbled and honored to receive the Young Professional Excellence Award for Leadership from the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO). To be recognized among such esteemed leaders in the engineering sector is a testament to the collective effort of my colleagues, mentors, and the entire NSE, Nigerian Society of Engineers’, he stated

Margaret Aina Oguntala, for her guidance and support, and for giving room for young engineers to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the profession. This award is not just for me but for everyone who has supported our vision and work in advancing the engineering profession in Nigeria and Africa’, Idowu added.

Penpushing also reports that Idowu is an alumnus of the Public Leadership Programme of AIG Imoukhuede at the University of Oxford and serves as an active member of the Academy Committee of Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO).
The awardee in addition holds the position of Chairman of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE’s) Programmes, Branding, Publicity, and Media Relations Committee, further showcasing his influence and commitment to shaping the future of the Engineering profession.
