Emulate good work of your father to rule Ogun state, Showunmi tells bereaved Governor Abiodun
A vocal Nigerian politician Segun Showunmi has called on Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to note accolades poured on his late father, and build on it for selfless service to the people of the state.
Penpushing reports that, Showunmi gave the challenge on Wednesday in his condolence message to the Governor over the demise of his father, Pa Emmanuel Abiodun who died on Monday at age 89.
The spokesman of Atiku Abubakar 2019 Presidential Campaign, pointed out that accolades on the deceased only confirmed that the Governor has a goodly heritage and must therefore build on it to selflessly serve the people of Ogun State.
Penpushing further reports that, the controversial politician described the deceased as a beloved father and one of the fortunate parents who have had the rare privilege of watching their son become the executive Governor of Ogun State in their lifetime.
The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) chieftain in his letter of condolence pointed out that the late educationist must have died a fulfilled and happy man having sat beside the Governor when taking the oath of office over two years ago
Penpushing also reports that, Showunmi explained that having been around in Ogun State for a very long time, watching and observing the activities of Abiodun’s last three predecessors, and seeing the level of tolerance, forbearance and calmness with which he (Abiodun) had specially managed to treat all and sundry under his watch in the state, he became convinced that all these are firmly rooted in his upbringing and birth by the late noble father.
‘In the following days and weeks to come, as you prepare the befitting rite of passage for him, I am sure that many kind words will be spoken about the disciplined teacher and committed educator that he was’, Showunmi stated.
“I bid you to keep the accolades in mind and use them as a pivot to help you remember that you are the son of godly heritage, and as such, you must be above board in all things, especially on the high pedestal of the office of Governor’, he wrote.
“The paintbrush of history is firmly in your hand; do endeavour to leave a praiseworthy legacy. May the soul of your father Rest In Peace And may the peace of God which passeth all understanding be with you and your family”, Showunmi stated
