ELECTORAL COMMITTEE LIFTS BAN ON OGUN JOURNALISTS ELECTION

The statement added that, all interested members of the union in the State are hereby, put on notice on the process of the elections which rolled out the time table in following order : Thursday, 17th October, 2019: Sale of nomination forms commences and  Thursday, 31st October, 2019  is close of sale and submission of nomination forms @ 2pm prompt.

 Penpushing further reports the electoral body said  Monday, 4th to Wednesday, 6th November, 2019  will be for screening of aspirants, while  Friday, 8th November, 2019  is for release of list of qualified aspirants and pasting of electoral list.

The statement said Monday, 11th to Friday, 22nd November, 2019 are dedicated for claims and objection while Monday, 25th to Wednesday, 27th November, 2019 will be for display of final list of candidates/eligible voters for the elections 

Penpushing also reports that, the electoral body explained that Thursday, 28th November, 2019 is manifesto night slated between 4:30pm to 7: 00pm prompt), while Thursday, 28th November, 2019 is close of campaigns effective from 12 midnight, while Friday, 29th November, 2019 is election day scheduled to hold from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm prompt, follow with release of results and swearing in ceremony immediately

‘The Committee hereby wishes to reiterate its determination to CONDUCT and EFFECT a very TRANSPARENT AND PEACEFUL ELECTIONS with a high sense of responsibility, accountability and respect for the Constitutional Provisions of the Union’, the statement said.

The Election and Credentials Committee however warned that it would not condone any act or conduct that could be inimical to the smooth process of the election from any member of the union, adding that it has put in place security mechanism in place to avoid any attempt of violence.

‘Consequently, the Committee wishes to announce that it has put in place enough security mechanisms to ensure the success of the election and protections of law abiding members throughout the period of the elections’.

‘We therefore advise non-members of the union, as well as those who have no legitimate business or reason to be around the election premises to keep off in their own interests, please.  For further enquiries, concern should be addressed to the Secretary to the Committee, NUJ Press Center, Iwe Iroyin House, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta’, the statement emphasised.
