Electoral commission creates 1,832 additional polling units in ogun state

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  has created an additional 1,832 polling units to the existing 3,210 in Ogun State, thereby making a total of 5,042 polling units in the state.

Penpushing reports that, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof. Abdulganiyu Raji disclosed this on Monday at a stakeholders meeting on expansion of voter access to polling units and commencement of continuous voter registration exercise in Abeokuta.

The electoral umpire explained further that, it became necessary to create more polling units, in view of the fact to reduce the stress of voters travelling long distances to their polling units on election day;

Penpushing further reports that, the Resident Electoral Commissioner explained that the development was equally alluded to the emergence and spring up of new settlements and estates across the state.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner disclosed that the commission will be commencing the continuous voters registration effective Monday 28th June 2021; an exercise which will be continuous nationwide.
