EL-ZAKZAKY RETURNS TO NIGERIA, WHISKED AWAY BY SECURITY OPERATIVES

It is recalled that El-Zakzaky, has rejected the Medanta Hospital, New Delhi, India where he was flown to alongside his wife for medical attention, declaring that the health facility there is worse more than prisons.

Penpushing reports that, El-Zakzaky who stated this in an audio message said the situation at the hospital is “pathetic and worrisome”, alleging that the management of the hospital had been threatened the Nigerian Government not to admit him for treatment.

The Shitte leader posited that in view of this development he is considering returning to Nigeria soon to source for a reliable and trusted hospital among those countries that offered help, which he said include; Malaysia and Turkey among others.

‘The hospital officials received us well they told us that they parked two ambulance vehicles, deceiving the crowd while taking us out through another way, saying that it was for our own safety’, the Shitte leader recounted.

“On getting to the hospital, we were placed under a tighter security situation worse than what we have been witnessed in Nigeria. We are currently more confined than when we were in Nigeria, worse than a prison setting’, he narrated.

“Contrary to what was agreed before our arrival, that our own personal doctors would supervise this treatment. Now they’ve changed the arrangement. So, we objected receiving treatment from strange doctors without the supervision of our own trusted physicians,’’ he noted.

Penpushing recalled that, the cleric, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), was flown to India on Monday following a Kaduna court order last week, having requested to be allowed to travel to India for advanced medical treatment following the deterioration of his health and that of his wife, Zeenah, in detention.

The couple has been detained since December 2015 after a clampdown by soldiers who killed at least 347 members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), while the detention had also ignited number of protest by his supporters.

Penpushing further reports that, the Nigerian Government in swift response declared that the claim of Zakzaky, that Medanta Hospital, India lacks proper facility to take care of him, was a foul cry, which should be ignored.

The Federal Government said El-Zakzaky excuses was baseless, arguing  that he was the person who made the choice of the hospital, and has no reason to make contrary claim

‘On 12th August, 2019, he and other members of the entourage went to India via Dubai. It is to be noted that El-Zakzaky particularly chose Medanta Hospital, India. However, on reaching Dubai, El-Zakzaky began to display ulterior motives against laid down procedures’, the statement pointed out.

The Federal Government in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Culture, Grace Gekpe added that, in line with the Court Order, El-Zakzaky was approved to embark on the trip with State officials and his choice to be accompanied by his aides and personal Doctors was not opposed by the government.

Penpushing further reports that the Shitte leader on arriving India requested that his passport be handed over to him but the State officials ignored his pressure, while he also refused to subject himself to preliminary medical checks by the hospital of his choice.

The Federal Government accused him of having ulterior motives against the laid down procedures for his medical trip, and that in contrary  he demanded free movement and access to visitors of all kinds as well as requested to be allowed to check into a 5-Star Hotel instead of being admitted in the hospital.

‘The request was refused on the ground that he came into the country for medicals and not as a tourist (more so that his Visa was issued on medical grounds and not for tourism). He also demanded that Police protection be withdrawn from him by the Indian authorities’.

‘The Court on 5th August, 2019 granted Sheikh Ibraheem EL-Zakzaky leave to travel to India for medical treatment. Consequently, the Government and its relevant agencies took steps to comply with the Order’.

‘Against medical ethics and standard practice, he requested to nominate Doctors of his choice to join the ones tasked by Medanta Hospital to perform medical treatment on him and his wife. This created a stalemate, which the Hospital insisted that he would not dictate to it on the choice of medical personnel to carry the required medical treatment’.

The statement explained that, frustrated by his(El-Zakzaky )antics, the Indian authorities have expressed willingness to return him to Nigeria with immediate effect, adding that this was on the account that the(hospital) will not allow him to use their country to internationalise his group’s activities.

The Federal Government emphasized that, against this background, it wishes to commend the stand of the Indian Government as well as apologize to her for the unruly behaviour of El-Zakzaky, adding that, ’similarly, the attention of the public and indeed the international community is hereby drawn to these unfortunate developments’.

‘The government also wishes to use this opportunity to affirm its readiness to undertake the prosecution of El-Zakzaky through due process if and when he is returned to the country. On this note, his foul cry that he is being held in circumstances worse than he was in Nigeria should be disregarded’

Penpushing also reports that, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria(IMN) reacting on the return of their leader in a statement by  President Media Forum Ibrahim Musa, said it “vehemently condemned the way the security agents whisked him away upon arrival without allowing the multitude of journalists that were waiting for him for hours to have a chat with him.”

‘As our leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has landed safely at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport today, we wish to set the records straight in order to disabuse the minds of Nigerians from the false claims perpetrated in some sponsored stories and articles in the media concerning his aborted medical treatment in India’.

‘However before we do that, we vehemently condemn the way the security agents whisked him away upon arrival without allowing the multitude of journalists that were waiting for him for hours to have a chat with him. We urge the security agency holding him hostage to declare to the public where they are keeping him in the country’.
