EKWEREMADU RETURNS TO NIGERIA AFTER ASSAULT IN GERMANY
The Senator’s Media Aide, Uche Anichukwu, who confirmed the return, said he (Ekeremadu) has since identified his attackers to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Penpushing further reports that, Ohaneze Igbo had earlier condemned in its entirety, the attack on the former Deputy Senate President, adding that the assault on Ekweremadu by a group described as Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) members is disappointing, grotesque and dangerous for Igbo solidarity.
The President-General of the Group, Chief Nnia Nwodo said,”this violent, rude, impertinent, divisive and discourteous style of IPOB or IPOB instigated miscreants is damaging to our cause. It strengthens the case of those who describe them as terrorists and weaken our case against the infringement of our fundamental human rights’.
Penpushing further reports that, Nwodo stated that Ekweremadu negotiated the sureties and securities for Nnamdi Kanu’s release on bail and does not deserve this picketing and disgrace, adding that disgrace to him is a disgrace to Igbo race ‘and condemn the attack on our revered son and leader and call on the law enforcement agencies in Germany to bring to book the perpetrators of this despicable act. It is un-Igbo. It is disgraceful’.
Penpushing also reports that, another prominent Igbo leader, Prince Paul Dike in his reaction said Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) members attack on Ekweremadu was unfortunate and shameful.
‘What IPOB did was tactless, immature and uncalled for. Ekweremadu aside being a top legislator has no conflict with IPOB. This act by IPOB will affect other Igbo groups hosting events in foreign land’, Dike stated.
