Education is collective responsibility of all stakeholders, says Onasanya

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya has explained that the attainment greater height for education should not be seen as the sole responsibility of government alone but a collective effort of all relevant stakeholders.

Penpushing reports that Onasanya made this known while delivering an address at the 45th Founders’ Day and 4th Annual General Meeting of the Imala Community Grammar School Old Students’ Association in Imala, Abeokuta North Local Government of the state.

The number one civil servant said the laudable initiatives of the old students demonstrated the association’s priority for education as collective responsibility of all with the aim of providing qualitative education in the State towards supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun led-administration in uplifting the standard of education to a greater height.

Penpushing further reports that he pointed out that, efforts of the old students in providing a block of modern toilet, as well as the completion of water project for students and teachers, was visionary and progressive stride in advancing the course of education in the school.

The Head of Service added that, the creation of a Climate Change Garden with one thousand trees by the old students, was a monumental achievement that speaks volumes of their dedication, in giving back to their Alma Mater.

“The provision of toilets in the school and the benefits it offers, invariably cannot be overemphasized. Adequate sanitation facilities, you will agree with me are fundamental to creating a conducive learning environment, improving student’s health and curbing the spread of preventative diseases and the contribution to combating climate change, enhancing biodiversity and ensuring a greener future for the next generations through the planting of the trees”, he said.

Penpushing also reports that Onasanya commended the initiatives of the old students, which aligned with the ongoing efforts of the state government for promoting tree planting, as part of broader environmental health and sustainability campaigns, encouraging the association to continue to explore new ways of enhancing the school’s growth and prosperity of education in the State.

The Royal Father of the day, Omola of Imala, Oba (Dr.) Moses Olabode in his remarks felicitated the old students for their efforts at sustaining the legacy of the school in the last 45th years, urging them not to relent in striving towards making the school one of the best, in the nearest future.

Penpushing reports that Principal of the School, Mr. Taofeek Yusuf in response expressed delight with the efforts of the old students at giving back, noting that the day witnessed the contributions of the association to the academic, social and infrastructural development of their school.

The Principal emphasized that the old students unwavering contributions had yielded positive results as one of the students, Miss Kaosara Alade was the best in a State Literary and Debate Competition recently.

Penpushing further reports that Yusuf stated that the students were no longer involved in open-defecation, with the provision of a well-equipped toilet facilities, completion of water project, renovation of some classrooms, supply of stationeries, among others by the old students’ association, have assisted the school in no small measure in performing its responsibilities to the students.

The National President of the Association, Mr. Yemi Akintunde earlier in his speech appreciated the state government for its contributions to the education’s sector while soliciting for more infrastructural development and monitoring of teachers for effective teaching and learning to restore the glory of the school.

Penpushing also reports that the highlight of the event was the cutting of the school 45th Founders’ Day Anniversary cake and cutting of the tape of a block of six modern toilet facilities built by the old students.
