Deposit N8.4million ahead of 2025 Hajj, Muslim board tells prospective pilgrims
The prospective pilgrims to Saudi Arabia ahead of 2025 from Edo State have been asked to make initial deposit of N8.4million for the holy pilgrimage, with declaration that this was necessary due to Saudi Arabia’s new policy.
Penpushing reports that the chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ibrahim Oyarekhua gave the directive on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Benin, stressing that the new policy required payments to be made two months before Arafat Day.
The board chairman added that the final Hajj fare is usually announced two to three weeks before the payment period closes, emphasizing that making a deposit facilitates completing the payment, and that the board has commenced sensitising Muslim communities about the importance of deposits

‘The board is sensitising Muslim communities about the importance of deposits, even if they can’t pay the full N8.4 million initially. Last year, all pilgrims received their visas before departing for Saudi Arabia, thanks to the new policy. Intending pilgrims are urged to deposit any amount into the board’s account to secure their spot’, Oyarekhua said
