Dapo Abiodun’s second term ambition receives boost, as pensioners, teachers announce endorsement

The second term Governorship ambition of Dapo Abiodun of All Progressives Congress(APC) on Monday received a boost as Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools(ASUSS) and Nigerian Union of Pensioners(NUP),Ogun State Chapter declared support for him ahead of the Saturday Governorship and Assembly elections.

Penpushing reports that the support declaration by the two bodies took place on Monday at separated meetings by members in their hundreds held at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The meetings of the two unions were led by their chairmen Dr Felix Agbesanwa of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) and Chief Waidi Oloyede of Nigerian Union of Pensioners(NUP) and gave assurances of mobilising votes for the Governor’s second term return to office.

Penpushing further reports that at the meetings members of the two unions embarked on sporadic political campaign songs to display their genuine loyalty for the Governor, emphasising that they would go out to mobilise votes for him

The leader of the teachers took time to read a communique by the union at end of  their meeting held at their secretariat located at Moshood Abiola Way, Abeokuta where it was concluded to support Abiodun as their anointed candidate for the poll coming up on Saturday

Penpushing also reports that the communique signed by Comrade Dr Felix Oluwaseun Agbesanwa(Chairman) and Comrade Oluwaseyi Bankole(Secretary) respectively  said after a sincere and thorough appraisal  of the Prince  Abiodun’s government, it was unanimously agreed that he deserves another shot  at the governorship seat,adding that they  are persuaded that with a second term in the office all the laudable projects, programmes and initiatives his government has kickstarted will be accomplished.

*That ASUSS Ogun State is unequivocally distancing herself from all the faceless write ups  which are no doubt the work of mischievous individuals. Our dear Union is peopled by men and women of honor and nobility and would never be tools in the hands of politicians especially those who do not mean well for our dear state.

*That, using our internal mechanism and channels of communication, we have reached out to our members across the state to help preach the gospel of “ANOTHER TERM FOR DAPO” in their respective homes as we honestly believe in the need to drum up support and encourage everyone to vote enmass for Prince Dapo Abiodun’s second term bid.

*It was decided that as a proof of our support for the Dapo Abiodun led Administration, the courtsey visit requested for and for which Monday March 6th has been fixed should be attended with as many  Secondary School teachers across Ogun State as we can mobilize.

*That His Excellency should as a matter of motivation and the need to lubricate the hearts of workers including teachers in the state pay some of the outstanding leave allowances, global deductions etc in order to honour the MoU signed with the labour centres in the state

Penpushing reports that Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners(NUP) in his own speech thanked the Governor for keeping to his promise with the release of N600million for the third and fourth quarters of the year 2022

The Pensioners called on the Governor to bridge the communication gap between him and them, requesting for occasional meetings and interactive session where issues relating to their affairs would be addressed

Penpushing further reports that Abiodun in response expressed appreciation for the endorsement and announced increment of N600million, with approval of N1billion for the pensioners as their quarterly payment effective from end of March.

The Governor in the same manner assured the teachers of always making their welfare a priority which his administration is known for, adding that he was elated, excited and happy over their genuine endorsement and assured them to expect more meaningful welfare in his second term in office

“From the bottom of my heart, I want to appreciate this endorsement.  I am happy, elated and excited for this support. God grace come Saturday we shall be celebrating the victory together. Once, again I am grateful and God bless all of us abundantly”, Abiodun emphasized
