Daniel, Amosun introduce me into politics, says Iyabo Obasanjo
The Governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun State Chapter ahead of 2027 elections, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has disclosed that former Governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun introduced and encouraged her into politics
Penpushing reports that she made this known while featuring as a guest on a live programme tagged ‘The Polity’ on Fresh F.M radio station in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital on Saturday.
The former Commissioner for Health in Ogun State recalled that she met the duo of Daniel and Amosun at Eagle Square in Abuja, during her father’s (Olusegun Obasanjo) campaign for second term as President.
Penpushing further reports that the governorship hopeful explained that she was in company of her father during the campaign, when both Daniel and Amosun were introduced to her, adding that thereafter, the duo separately invited her to join their governorship and senatorial campaign respectively.
‘Former Governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun encouraged me into politics. I met them at Eagle Square during my father’s campaign for second term. I was in company of my father. I was introduced to Daniel and Amosun’, she recalled
The first female governorship hopeful ahead of the next political dispensation in Ogun State, said Daniel was eyeing the Governorship seat, while Amosun was equally eyeing the Senatorial slot in Ogun Central Senatorial District at that time.
Penpushing also reports, after the nomination of his father (Obasanjo) scaled through, she thereafter joined the campaign team of both the duo of Daniel and Amosun, adding that she was later encouraged by them, to join politics, a development which later led to her appointment as commissioner
‘Amosun requested me to join his campaign for senatorial seat, while Daniel also asked me to join his governorship campaign. When my father’s nomination scaled through, I later joined Daniel and Amosun campaign as requested’
Penpushing reports that on her governorship aspiration, she emphasized that she is determined, adding that she is not a tough person, as been insinuated in some quarters, but explained that she is a blunt person who says things the way they are.
‘I am not afraid of men on this race. I can stand to defend my credentials. I have more capacity; I can’t be relegated. I came out into the race because people want me back. My goodwill is paying me back’, she stated
